Mahila Saarthi Joins Hands with Bharat Taxi to Empower Women Drivers Across Delhi

In a significant step towards womenโ€™s empowerment in sustainable mobility, Mahila Saarthi, an initiative of the Chamber of Business and Entrepreneur (India) Council (CBEIC), is proud to collaborate with Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited, popularly known as Bharat Taxi.

This partnership aims to create dignified, safe, and income-generating opportunities for women drivers across the Delhi-NCR region through app-based ride operations.

Driving Change for Women

As highlighted in recent media coverage, Bharat Taxi is in advanced discussions with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) to enhance last-mile connectivity across the capital. Under this mission, 100 women drivers under the Mahila Saarthi initiative will soon be onboarded to provide safe, efficient, and reliable mobility options for Delhi commuters.

Through this collaboration, Mahila Saarthi women partners will not only gain financial independence but also become a vital part of Delhiโ€™s public mobility ecosystem.

Safety and Empowerment at the Core

Safety remains at the heart of this partnership. The cooperative officials are working closely with the Delhi Police to integrate emergency assistance signals and a distress button within the Bharat Taxi mobile applicationโ€”ensuring enhanced security for both drivers and passengers.

Mahila Saarthi, on its part, will provide:

  • Comprehensive driver training and digital onboarding,
  • Self-defense sessions and psychological support,
  • Health check-ups and skill development,
  • Continuous on-road assistance through a dedicated women-led helpline.

Creating Equal Opportunities

This collaboration is more than an operational tie-upโ€”itโ€™s a social movement. By bringing women drivers to the forefront of last-mile mobility, Mahila Saarthi and Bharat Taxi are redefining how women can lead in transport, logistics, and public service.

Through government partnerships, CSR collaborations, and support from financial institutions, the initiative also aims to make electric vehicle (EV) adoption accessible for women entrepreneurs.

Our Vision Ahead

Under the leadership of Mr. Saurabh Mitra, Managing Director, CBEIC, Mahila Saarthi envisions expanding this model across major Indian cities, ensuring that every woman with the will to drive can do so with dignity, safety, and support.

As Bharat Taxi and Mahila Saarthi move forward together, this partnership stands as a milestone in Indiaโ€™s journey toward inclusive mobility and women-led growth.
